Ways on Teaching Your Kids Different Values
In most of what we watch on TV today, we will always see that before children go to sleep their father or their mother will read them a certain bedtime story.
The evening simply cannot be over unless the kids are told a story before they close their eyes to sleep.
It is a very old tradition that has been used over and over again to teach children different values they need in life.
Their creativity for example is one of the first things nurtured as a story does not come with any graphics or pictures so they have to conjure up their own.
If for instance you try to ask a child to illustrate snow white they will come up with a splitting image of what you see from Walt Disney.
If you ask them to do the same with a less popular character however you will not get the same results because they will do it how they perceived it from their thoughts.
Vision is therefore exercised when they hear stories with no pictures or graphics included.
They will be able to make their own pictures from their thoughts instead.
Culture has been taught to children for years through the aid of bedtime stories.
Important life principles have been imparted on them and they have learned social values in the same way.
Morality and compassion are all things that children can learn to exercise from listening to different stories.
They can be taught the importance of forgiveness and why they need to practice restraint or trust as well.
Waiting for dad to get to the most interesting part of a story is not easy.
This will make sure that respect for the elder is instilled and patience or good listening skills are taught at the same time too.
Bedtime stories are not just bedtime stories, they are great teaching tools and each occasion to tell one should thus be treated as such.
