Mother Nile
From the beginning of time it has flowed Fertilizing the tributaries and the marshlands The white and blue Nile flow for thousands of Miles As long as it glows we will never be in denial of smiles It stretches through regions and races When it overflows we brace up for long faces Carving new paths and leaving lots of traces A reminder that the Nile is really ageless and spotless The source of legends The reasons for gods The 'Ra' also known as the Sun god 'Hapi' the god of the upper and lower Nile They looked up to them for bountiful harvests Cities sprung up all around it The Luxor and Thebes just to mention a few Bringing tourists from far and near To the source of the Pyramids and Pharaohs The boats and the fishermen rely on it The Salmon, Trout and crocodiles skate on it The Aswan Dam is built right on it Providing the Sun to many at dusk.
The reeds hid the biblical baby Moses Handing the world the first paper called papyrus Revealing Tales from Ancient labyrinth Leading us into adventures through ancient monuments Tributaries and Estuaries flow from it Forming water sources for villages and farms Irrigating and mitigating the scourge of Famine Providing a highway for ships from Asia Minor The circle of life is sustained because of the Nile Where will Egypt be without the Nile? Sudan and Ethiopia, Rwanda and Kenya? All Lay claim to the abundance of the mighty river Mother Nile has many siblings Amenhotep III, Cleopatra, and Tutankhamun Reigned in majesty and left a mark The tombs bear tales of their great riches Laid at the sacred sites of the Mummies The Nile is Egypt and Egypt is the Nile.
