    • 1). Check the control dials in the refrigerator and freezer to make sure they are not set to "0" if it appears your refrigerator is not refrigerating as well as it should. If the dials are at "0," move the dials to a temperature setting. Move the dial one number at a time, and check the coolness of the refrigerator periodically until you have reached the desired temperature.

    • 2). Check the rollers at the bottom of the refrigerator if the refrigerator rattles or shakes. If one or more of the rollers is uneven, replace it to decrease the rattling and shaking noises.

    • 3). Do nothing if you have just installed your refrigerator and the motor operates for long periods of time. This is normal during the first 12 to 24 hours after a refrigerator has been installed. Similarly, this can occur if there is a lot of food in the refrigerator. The refrigerator must work harder to keep the food cool. Remove some of the food from the refrigerator if you want the motor to run less often. It also is normal for the refrigerator motor to operate longer than normal if it is warm in the kitchen.

    • 4). Move the food away from the air vent if some of the food tends to freeze in the refrigerator. If this does not keep the food from freezing, move the temperature dial to a temperature that is less cold than its current setting.

    • 5). Check to make sure the water hose is properly connected from the wall to the back of your refrigerator if the water dispenser does not work. If the hose is properly connected, hold the water dispenser lever in for about two minutes, or until water begins to flow. This can help remove any air trapped in the water system.

    • 6). Discard the first few cups of ice if you notice the ice has an odd smell or taste. If the ice has been in the freezer for a long period of time, discard the ice container and make fresh ice to avoid taste and odor problems.Make sure foods in the freezer are properly wrapped. The smells from some foods could migrate to the ice if they are not well wrapped.
