It's a great question to ask and one that has mixed reviews.
Depending on who you talk to, if you don't use some sort of hard drive recovery software then you risk the chance of damaging your computer trying to go in after it yourself.
Then again, others believe that there are ways for you to get the lost data back with a few simple steps.
We think it depends on your experience and the amount of time you want to involve yourself with such processes.
Here are a few things to think about when deciding on whether or not hard drive recovery software is for you.
First off, if your computer crashed, unless you are some kind of IT person, it's probably not wise to be diving into something you don't know much about.
It's like telling a librarian to go do open heart surgery on a patient.
No one would allow that, so why would you try to do it with your computer hard drive? If this is you, leave it to the professionals for your own benefit.
Another thing to think about is the time involved to personally do it.
Picture this, the computer crashes, you mess around with it trying to figure out what's going on and nothing seems to be working.
Once you realize how much time you are wasting getting no where, a phone call to technical support will soon follow.
Again, spending time waiting and waiting until someone comes on and you explain the situation.
We are talking possibly hours here, when you could have used a hard drive recovery software that takes only minutes.
So what's the downfall to purchasing a hard drive recovery software?Well, unless you are not in a position to spend a little money on it, we don't really think there are issues outside of it being a financial burden.
Seriously, thousands upon thousands of people are using recovery software when their computer crashes, so does that make them all wrong? No, but there are some stories circulating about it being worse for your computer to use it, however, there are no factual documents and are more or less propaganda from rival companies.
Something else to remember is all the ridiculous things that circulate by using odd methods of fixing your computer.
Information suggesting that you don't need hard drive recovery software because there are a few alternative methods available that cost nothing.
For instance, taking your hard drive out and freezing it to unlock everything and get it working again.
While there have been cases of this happening, it is a risky thing to attempt and could eventually harm your computer even further.
This would defeat the purpose of trying to recover the data in the first place, so be responsible with your $500-$2500 computer.
Isn't it worth spending a few dollars for something that is a necessity and expensive.
Would you purchase diesel fuel and put it in your unleaded vehicle? Why not?Now think of your computer that way and get the hard drive recovery software to fix it safely.
When you're finished and everything is back to normal knowing it took only a few minutes, will leave you feeling relieved.
So to answer the question, yes, you need the software.
