1.
Do not wash your swag with scourers, soaps, detergents, cleaning fluids or metho.
2.
Keep gasoline, diesel, oil, solvents, Kero, and other similar fluids away from the swag.
3.
Should mildew spots appear, brush them off before they become ingrained.
4.
Swag canvas which has been cleaned extensively may eventually need reproofing.
5.
Never leave your swag set up too near the camp fire.
6.
Never leave your swag where drunken thieves can easily take it as their bed for the night.
7.
Always secure your swag in the back of your ute or on top of your car when travelling.
8.
Do not set your swag up on boggy ground or in a hollow on a wet night.
9.
Dig a small trench (or just drag your boot heel through the ground) on the top side of your swag.
10.
Never set your swag under a gum tree, they don't call them "widow makers" for nothing.
11.
Do not spray insecticides on your swag canvas.
12.
Where possible set a small tarp above your swag for extra shade and wet cover.
13.
Keep your swag pegged out on windy days when you are off fishing.
14.
Always air your swag out when you return from your trip.
15.
Always brush your swag down as you roll it up to keep off leaf mould.
16.
In snake country always keep your ends zipped up.
17.
Avoid storing food in your swag (especially old bananas), as possums will do anything to get to it.
18.
In the event of bushfire DO NOT seek shelter in your swag.
19.
In snow and cold areas you will need to break the frozen dew outside your swag to avoid condensation.
20.
When inside your swag on wet nights avoid you or your gear touching the side of the canvas as this will bring in the wet.
21.
Always keep a small emergency kit (medical, fishing, survival gear) tucked away in the foot of your swag.
