    • 1). Flip your Barefoot Science insoles. You should see a small, oval cavity near the widest part of each insole. Press the level 1, extra-soft insert into the cavity. It should fit snugly in place.

    • 2). Place your insoles on the floor and stand on them. Your heels should fit snugly in the pocket of the heels of the insoles. You should feel the level 1 insert in the center of your foot, just below the balls of your feet and right above the arch.

    • 3). Lean down and draw a dotted line on the insoles with a permanent marker. Follow the line of your toes, spacing the line about ¼ inch from them. Step off the insoles and cut along your dotted lines with sharp scissors.

    • 4). Slide the insoles into a pair of comfortable athletic shoes. Make sure the shoes don't crowd your feet. The insoles should fit snugly inside the heel of the shoe.

    • 5). Put on your shoes and lace them just tightly enough so that they stay on. The looser you can leave the laces, the better. Tight laces can cause foot injury.

    • 6). Wear your shoes for about a week and switch to level 2. Repeat until you get to level 7. By this point, your feet should feel stronger and less sensitive.
