To begin with, who goes out the door first when you are taking your dog for a walk? The majority of home owners will admit that their dog is the first to rush out the door.
Your dog isn't trying to be the first out the door because he is excited, but because he wants to be the dominate one.
Try your best to never let your dog out of the door before you, and instead, have him walk out behind you.
What happens when it is feeding time in your home? If your dog is jumping or is rushing all around, he is not showing you the proper respect.
Before you feed your dog, put him into the sit position.
Then lower the food and make him wait to dig in until you tell him that it is okay for him to do so.
This shows him that you, and only you, are the one that says when it is time to eat, just like a pack leader in a real dog pack.
Above all, make sure you retain calm, cool control anytime your dog doesn't listen to you.
Becoming frustrated is a sign of weakness.
