Trampolines have always been synonymous to balance and body strength. Jumping on trampolines has always been a source of fun and fulfillment for adults and children alike. However, there also poses the threat of possible injury, especially to children. This is the reason for the implementation of trampoline safety whenever one uses the trampoline.

Statistics do not lie; according to the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission, trampolines have been a major cause for injury on a yearly basis. Around 83,000 (mostly children) are injured on trampolines. This should serve as the catalyst for better safety procedures. Since trampolines are widely known as a home recreational activity, the more families must look out for the safety of each member.

In Montreal, trampoline safety has been an alarming issue. The Montreal Children's Hospital emergency room treated 40 trampoline induced injuries. This prompted a warning from hospital officials to parents because of the increasing number of trampoline injuries. In 1997, a teenager succumbed to death due to head injuries sustained from trampoline use. The threat of this recreational activity has caused numerous risks, hence the need to take action.

Various health risks have sprung from the use of the trampoline. These vary from serious head injuries such as skull fractures, to sprained ankles and wrists. Broken bones are also quite common, with the back and neck bone topping the list. This is why you should be careful whenever attempting tricks, or if sharing the trampoline, being pushed off by another person. It usually unwanted collision or landing which causes unwanted circumstances.

Safety precaution is applied from the start; buying a trampoline. It is important to buy safety pads to cover steel frame and springs which might be harmful later on. Further, installation of the trampoline is also essential to safe use. The trampoline must be places on soft ground to avoid bad injuries if ever someone falls off. There should not be hard surfaces such as walls or furniture which the child may hit in case of harsh play. Regulation is also vital - checking on the mat, frame, and springs of your trampoline is a must. Also, check that only one person is using the trampoline. Sharing is not advisable.
