Home Maintenance Projects - Mini Blind Removal
I know that this seems too easy and why should anyone write an article on it, but I have had enough questions asked over the years to tell me that there are some folks that need help with this home maintenance project! It is actually all a part of a thorough spring cleaning which must include mini blinds because of the dust and nasty allergens that are stored on the large surface areas.
This holds true whether you want to temporarily take them down for cleaning or permanently removing them.
Just follow these easy steps: (It only takes minutes to accomplish it!) Tools you will need:
Make sure that the ladder is tall enough for the task.
Don't overreach and cause potential injury.
Sometimes it helps to have a helper hold the ladder for you.
Step 2 - Open the Blinds It is much easier to remove blinds when they are in the open position.
Open them completely! Step 3 - Remove from Brackets Slide the snaps out of the snap bracket and move the bracket towards the center of the blind.
It should slide out fairly easily.
If the slide bracket is stuck, then take a pliers and carefully pull it away.
Step 4 - Remove from the Center Brackets On some longer mini blinds, there may be a center bracket that it is attached to.
These are used for additional support.
You will obviously have to remove it as well.
Just use the same procedure as you did on the side brackets.
After you have removed the blinds from the side and/or center brackets, grab each side of the blind and gently pull forward.
As soon as the blinds are completely free, place them in a safe place as they are easily damaged.
Step 5 - Removing the Brackets If you are removing a mini blind from a window permanently, you will want to take off the brackets that they were attached to.
If you are just cleaning the blinds, leave the brackets in place.
Take a small Phillips screwdriver and remove all the screws from inside of the brackets.
After the screws have been removed, the brackets will become loose and fall off of the window frame.
Over the years, I have seen lots of creative ways to hang blinds, so you may come across a dissimilar method.
Just take your time and use good common sense so as not to damage the blinds, woodwork, or drywall.
