DIY: Standard Leaf Rake
- 1). Fasten your metal cap onto one end of your wooden pole using glue adhesive. Let the glue dry so the cap doesn't slip off.
- 2). Drill a 1-inch hole in the exact center of your comb if it doesn't already have one.
- 3). Slide the washer on your 1-inch screw and put the screw through the hole you just drilled. Screw your screw into the metal cap connected to the wooden pole and tighten all the way, making sure the metal comb is centered and perpendicular to your wooden pole. Now your metal comb is fastened tightly to your pole and becomes the rake head.
- 4). Drill holes at either end of your metal braces approximately half an inch from the edges. Hold the brace at a 45-degree angle between the wooden pole and the back face of the metal comb. Bend your metal brace on both sides until the holes you drilled are parallel and flush with the wooden pole on one side and the back face of the metal comb on the other. Mark the spot on the metal comb and on the wooden pole where the holes are.
- 5). Drill a hole through the metal comb where the mark was and run your bolt through the metal brace and the metal comb and clamp the two together using the nut tightened tightly. Drill a screw through the hole on the other end into the wooden pole.
- 6). Repeat step 5 for your other metal brace on the other side of your rake.
