Cut diseased branches beyond the swollen area of trunk tissue where branches and trunk meet. - 2). Cut at a 45- to 60-degree angle to remove diseased branch tissue at the branch bark ridge.

Spray the blades of your cutting tools with a strong solution of rubbing alcohol between cuts to avoid cross contamination. - 5). Cut diseased areas 1/2 inch into visually apparent healthy tissue. Internal disease spread is better eliminated using this technique. Burn all diseased branches after removal.
