The shore of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula is home to Marquette, Michigan, a city that offers year-round family recreation opportunities. Named by Outdoor Life Magazine in 2010 as 13th on its list of the 200 best towns for outdoorsmen, Marquette combines modern convenience with rustic recreation. Bicycling the trails through the woods of the Upper Peninsula is simultaneously a challenge and a peaceful getaway. - Six miles south of Marquette, the Blueberry Ridge Pathway offers mountain bikers 12 miles of trails and seven loops in one pathway system. Trail maps are available, but camping facilities are not.

The trails follow along the shoreline of Lake Superior, taking riders to a marina; to an outdoor swimming pool with slide; and to Presque Isle, a 328-acre park. Follow the bike path south out of Marquette, and you will be surrounded by the woods of northern Michigan once again.

All trails, regardless of skill level, start at the Forestville trailhead. From there, three trails are available, offering choices based on skill level and trail length.
