    Ligaments

    • The function of ligaments is to connect bone to bone. Ligaments provide stability in the joints by preventing too much movement.

    Tendons

    • The function of tendons is to connect muscle to bone. Tendons carry the force from the muscle that moves the bone.

    Hyaline Cartilage

    • Hyaline cartilage is a flexible tissue that is also strong and resistant to pressure. It provides flexible support for structures in the nasal septum, larynx, trachea and bronchi of the respiratory tract, and in joints.

    Elastic Cartilage

    • Elastic cartilage supports the external ear, auditory and eustachian tubes, epiglottis and larynx.

    Fibrocartilage

    • Fibrocartilage provides a firm but not rigid support in the intervertebral discs, at the insertion of tendons and ligaments, around part of the knee, and in healing fractures.
