How to Disassemble the Maytag Neptune Dryer
- 1). Disconnect the dryer from the electrical outlet. Disconnect the dryer vent from the back of the dryer. Slide the dryer out from the wall to give yourself room to work.
- 2). Open the dryer door, and remove the four screws along the door jamb. There are two screws near the door hinges and two directly across from the door. Lift the door up slightly to remove it from the hinges, and set it aside. This reveals the U-shaped front panel.
- 3). Grab the thin top posts of the front panel, and twist them slightly to disengage them from the top panel. Pull the front panel toward you, and lift it up slightly to unlock the panel's bottom retaining clips. Slide the front panel to the side of the dryer.
- 4). Remove the two screws and clips holding the top panel in place. Remove the four screws holding the dryer's drum bulkhead in place. Lift the top panel up slightly, and slide the bulkhead forward and out of the dryer's cabinet. Unplug the door switch wiring harness, and set the bulkhead aside.
- 5). Reach under the drum, and press the idler arm on the motor to release the tension on the drum belt. Unhook the belt from the idler pulley and motor pulley. Lift the top panel up slightly, and slide the drum forward and out of the dryer's cabinet.
