How to Install a Refrigerator Water Line Compression With a Plastic Nut
- 1). Place the plastic compression nut on the end of the water supply line with the threading facing the end of the water line.
- 2). Insert the brass ferrule into the end of the water line. The brass ferrule provides additional structural support to both the plastic compression nut and plastic water line.
- 3). Insert the water line into the water supply valve and tighten the compression nut by hand. Turn the compression nut one-quarter of a turn using an adjustable wrench to tighten the connection.
- 4). Insert the other end of the water line into your sink if it will reach. If it won't reach the sink, insert the other end of the water line into a bucket.
- 5). Turn on the water valve and allow it to run until the water is clear. This flushes the water supply line, removing any particles remaining inside. Turn off the water valve.
- 6). Install the compression nut and brass ferrule onto the other end of the water line. Connect the water line to the refrigerator's water inlet valve. Tighten the nut by hand. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten the nut one-quarter of a turn.
- 7). Turn on the water supply valve to ensure there are no leaks.
