    If Bitten by a Tick

    • Remove the tick with tweezers at the head and squeeze firmly until it releases hold. Wipe the area with antiseptic.

    Precautions

    • Not all ticks carry disease, but make sure to wear gloves while removing the tick. Put the tick in a jar and fill it with alcohol to preserve the specimen.

    Specifics

    • Label the jar with time and date of the bite, the location of the bite, and the estimated physical location of where the bite occurred. The information will help the doctor if symptoms of Lyme disease appear.
