Top 3 Lies Being Spread About Acne

Acne is one of those things that seems to have more lies circulating than actual truth.
With all this misinformation floating around, no wonder people are struggling to get some actual results clearing up their skin.
Here are the 3 worst lies I've seen about acne (and the real truth behind them all): Lie #1: Dirt causes acne.
It absolutely does not cause acne! Acne is caused by a hormone imbalance in your system.
The excess hormones tell your hair follicles to produce more sebum (oily stuff) than they normally would produce.
This extra sebum gets clogged in your pores and forms acne.
You could have a perfectly clean face with no dirt on it ever and still get acne if your hormones are out of balance.
Lie #2: You just out grow acne.
So not true.
Many people have acne right from puberty well into their adult years.
It just doesn't seem to go away no matter how old they get.
Why then do some people stop getting acne once they hit their early 20s? Well their hormones simply aren't out of balance as much as they were in their teens.
Puberty causes hormones to rage out of control.
Once their hormones settled down, so did their skin.
They are not cured though - the next time their hormones get out of balance (like with pregnancy or an illness) their acne will come back.
Until they fix the root cause of the acne internally, it could always come back.
Lie #3: Junk food causes acne.
What you eat doesn't cause your acne, it's what you "don't" eat that makes the difference.
Remember how I said acne was caused by a hormone imbalance? Well if your body is already out of whack and you omit certain vitamins from your diet, you're not helping the situation.
Vitamins and minerals can help stablize your body functions.
If you're not getting them, then you'll continue to stay out of balance.
We all know people who eat lots of crap and don't get their vitamins and still have clear skin.
That's because they don't have the hormone imbalance in the first place, so their body doesn't react the same as it would for people who are susceptible to acne.
Just because they don't have acne doesn't mean that they're healthy.
You are what you eat (or more importantly don't eat) and it will catch up with you eventually.
Junk food doesn't cause acne, but a lack of healthy food can most definitely contribute to the cause.
