How to Sell Used Homeschool Curriculum
- 1). Make a list of each item that you have available for sale. Write the title of each book or collection of books at the top of a separate page in your notebook.
- 2). Check the curriculum for missing pages or those that have been written on. If there is any significant damage, jot it down on in the notebook as you go. Write down whether or not books are missing from collections. Make note of any workbooks needed for the curriculum that you have used and will not be able to sell.
- 3). Log on to the websites for each of your items to see if your curriculum is still current or if a new version has been released. Write down the information for each piece you are hoping to sell. You may be asked which edition you have. Also, write down the current selling price to show parents that they are saving money by buying used.
- 4). Create a comprehensive list of the curriculum that you have for sale based on all of your notes. Determine the price for each book or collection based its condition, missing parts and whether or not it is a current edition. For curriculum in great shape, start out by asking for half the price that you paid.
- 5). Research homeschool groups and contact them for information about selling your curriculum. Some may send a weekly email to members that includes a list of used curriculum for sale or they have a website where you can post your list. The groups may be able to inform you of local used curriculum fairs, where you can rent a table and sell all of your items in one day, while also getting to meet other homeschool families. If there are no local groups or events in your area, post your list on sites such as the homeschool site TheSwap.com or general sale sites like Craigslist.org and ebay.com to reach an audience outside of your neighborhood (see the Resources section).
