    • 1). Lay the Blackhole gopher trap on a flat table. Pull the spring-loaded trap bar down flat on top of the trap. Push the trigger bar over the trap bar and insert the end into the trigger hook.

    • 2). Insert a screwdriver into a fresh gopher mound until you find the gopher's tunnel. Use a shovel to dig up the soil above the tunnel so you can lower the trap into the tunnel.

    • 3). Sprinkle the bottom of the trap with dirt until you cover the bottom completely. Lower the Blackhole trap into the tunnel so the opening of the trap is lined up with the tunnel opening.

    • 4). Shovel dirt around the trap so air and light don't enter the tunnel from outside. Leave the small hole at the back of the trap uncovered. Light and air will enter through this hole. The gopher will try to plug the hole, and as it enters the trap, it will flip the trigger bar and be killed.

    • 5). Remove the trap daily to check for dead gophers.
