How to Get a Credit Card in Five Days

    • 1). Visit the website of a large online issuer of credit cards. Large banks like Chase and Bank of America issue millions of credit cards, and they have processes in place to provide instant decisions for those applying for a credit card.

    • 2). Check with the bank where you have your main checking and savings account. Many local community banks issue their own credit cards, and your chances of getting the card you need can be much higher if you have a preexisting relationship with the institution issuing the card.

    • 3). Complete the application accurately, and provide as much information as you can. Be sure to include all of your income, both income from your job and income from other sources like dividends, capital gains and interest. It is helpful to have a copy of your previous year's income tax return when you complete the income portion of the application. Be sure to include the information about your job, including the telephone number. This will make it easier for the bank to verify the information you have provided in the application for a credit card.

    • 4). Wait for the instant response if you are applying for a credit card online from a company that offers an instant response. If the bank you are applying to is unable to make an instant decision, be sure to follow up with a phone call and ask how many days the review will take. Most major banks review credit card applications within 2 to 4 days. After you know how many days the review will take, be sure to follow up with a phone call after the waiting period has passed.
