Tents for recreational camping fall basically into broad two categories. First are the light weight camping tents that are intended to be carried by backpackers. These are the smallest and lightest type. Small tents may be sufficiently light that they can be carried for long distances in a handbag, on a touring bicycle, a boat, or when backpacking.
The second type of outdoor camping tents are larger, heavier tents which are usually carried in a car, van or other vehicle. Depending on tent size and the experience of the persons, these tents can usually be erected (pitched) in between 10 to 30 minutes; dismantling takes a smaller length of time and man force.
