Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for December 28, 2009
< Continued from page 2
Of course some people don’t get to feel happy for the holidays. Viki goes to see Clint who informs her about Bo and Nora. Viki is shocked at the news but when she hears that Clint is hell bent on revenge, she reminds him how much like Asa he sounds. Viki has enough to deal with in her own back yard because Charlie’s drinking gets more serious by the day and she doesn’t even know the extent yet. Charlie goes to the hospital to see Mitch but I was glad he didn’t get in.
Mitch would have loved to see Charlie drunk and know that he caused it all.
Rachel and Greg are enjoying a little Christmas cheer and now Rachel is looking for a place to live because when Clint packed up Nora and Matthew’s things and sent them to The Palace, he also sent Rachel’s things, tossing her out of the house, too. Greg suggests that Rachel come to stay with him and although she feels it’s too early in their relationship for that, he tells her that they can take things slow. Yeah, that works for about five seconds and then they are ripping each other’s clothes off. Greg convinces Rachel to come to his parents’ house for Christmas and she reluctantly agrees. Now there’s a recipe for disaster. Greg’s mom might just get indigestion over that.
But best of all and the greatest Christmas gift was seeing Matthew walk again. Dani pushed him to try it and although he was hesitant and a bit shaky, he stood up and took a few steps. The best part of all was that while he was standing on his feet, Bo and Nora walked in and stood watching in awe as they got the miracle they wanted most in this world.
Matthew walked to them and fell into their arms. So, go ahead and call me a sap, but that moment brought more than a tear to my eyes.
Thanks to the writers for giving me one thing to enjoy during a season of manipulation and destruction on this show. The villains have taken over Llanview and my only hope is that in the New Year we can at least get some balance. Happiness on this show has become a thing of the past and I think the fans need more of what they really watch the show for. TPTB would be smart to change directions a little bit. Just my humble opinion.
Hey, everybody have a Safe, Healthy and Happy New Year!
See you in 2010!

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS
Jade writes: “I am not a big fan of Natalie, but I loved the way she went after that cheap, gold digging tramp Kim. If Kim and Clint get together, it should be fun to watch Natalie put that creature in her place.”
Dear Jade: I’m with you. I’d love to see someone put Kim in her place. Somehow, I get the feeling that she might turn out to be a vulnerable person on the inside, but I don’t even really care. She’s not a necessary factor in my opinion and I think it’s ridiculous for Clint to get involved with her. However, I have heard that Clint and Dorian are going to team up to get back at Bo and Nora, so if that turns out to be true, who knows what will happen with Kim. If Clint can find a good, manipulative use for her, he won’t hesitate to do so.
Sharon writes: “I have been watching past episodes of Ben and Viki all day today. That was the most beautiful love story ever. I laughed and cried through every episode. Why can't they bring Ben back and have some happiness for Viki like she had with Ben? They resurrect all the psychos and weirdoes, but never Ben. They were the best couple ever! I enjoyed every minute of those shows. COME BACK BEN. BLONDIE NEEDS HER BARTENDER! WE MISS YOU!”
Dear Sharon: OMG! I never get emails like yours any more and I am thrilled to hear someone echo what I always say about all the dregs of Llanview society being brought back from the dead while Ben remains “on the other side.” I have tons of those tapes of everything Ben and Viki but now that I use a DVR and have given up the VCR, I can’t watch them. I’d love to find someone who has converted all those old tapes to DVD’s. Just point me in the right direction and I will be eternally grateful. PLEASE! I totally agree with you. It’s not that I don’t like Charlie, but let’s face it, there is no excitement there when you compare it to what Viki had with Ben. I will miss him forever and even if Mark Derwin (I love him best) never wants to come back to the show, I’d love to see someone else give it a go as Ben.
