How to Reduce Weight Gain in a Treatment Center

    • 1). Practice self-control when it comes to eating the food provided in the treatment center. Avoid obviously unhealthy items, such as sugary desserts or carbohydrates from refined flour sources. Beyond being selective in which items you choose to eat, be selective in how much you choose to eat of the items that you do consume. Remember that caloric needs fluctuate with activity level, and if you are spending your day in and out of different treatment programs you will likely not need nearly as many calories as you did before you came to the treatment center.

    • 2). Perform bodyweight exercises in your room or whatever space you have available. While you will likely not have access to a high level of exercise equipment, you can still make do by performing pushups either on the floor or with your legs or upper body elevated on a bed or table. Likewise, you can easily perform squats by keeping your back against the wall, and you should be able to perform in-place lunges without much difficulty at all. Get in the habit of performing an exercise routine every morning and night while you are at the treatment center.

    • 3). Talk to your friends and family about sneaking you in some better quality food items from the outside. However, first check with the treatment center staff to determine what items you can and cannot have while in treatment to avoid potentially embarrassing situations. In the event that you are allowed to have food and drink from the outside, take advantage of that fact to avoid gaining weight while being treated.
