Video Gives a Business Greater Visibility on the Internet
Promoting a business online is not easy especially when you have no real understanding of Internet Marketing.
In the days before the Internet you had few places to research new skills.
But now you can search the Internet and learn about almost any and every subject possible.
Even if you can put a website together you cannot stop there and hope it will be found by potential customers.
The website needs to be found on the first few pages of all the search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc.
The one word or phrase you cannot fail to come across is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
So how do you optimize a website? The basic and simplest work that has to be done to improve a website ranking is to ensure relevant keywords are included in each page of your website.
If you can, have a domain name include your most important keywords.
But to get a page one ranking on all search engines, consistently and relatively quickly, requires additional work to drive traffic to a website.
There are a number of ways you can utilise to help improve a website ranking like writing an article like this one where you put your website link in the final section of your article.
Google believes higher ranked websites with links to lower ranked websites must have some importance.
Another way is to make a video or number of videos of your products or services.
Again Google loves video because it owns YouTube.
I have produced a number of videos for family businesses.
With over forty videos uploaded to YouTube and other video sharing sites I have found videos help drive traffic to websites.
When you upload a video you are asked to include a title, description and tags (keyword).
The very first part of the description should be the website address in full.
If you want better visibility for you website add video.
Since my family set up a new business in 2007 I have helped with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and production and uploading videos for their website.
The business operates from an industrial unit not a retail outlet.
Although the business can only offer a local delivery service at present, it was important that potential customers could find the website if they were looking for unusual gifts or food gifts, etc.
Through the hard work they have put in over the last two years to develop and produce an amazing range of products they have gained a loyal customer base.
This has been achieved in two ways.
Firstly by building awareness of their business within the local population through leaflet distribution, local advertising and a visible website and not forgetting the samples they often deliver by hand to local businesses and retailers.
Secondly, they deliver 100% satisfaction, a value for money product, not one complaint since start up, not one delivery missed.

Self belief and determination is the key to developing a successful business along with minimal overheads at startup.
Although I have put a few websites together over the years I am not a website designer.
But over the years I have gained a great deal of knowledge in getting, what I call, visibility, for a website.
There are 000's of 'good looking' websites that do not rank on the first few pages of Google, Yahoo, etc, when searched for their keywords.
And it is a known fact that when looking for what they want, most people do not look beyond the first few pages of a search, before carrying out another search.
From my experience optimizing a website for the search engines is an art form in its self.
Also it takes time for a website to be ranked by the various search engines.
There are other ways to get that visibility for a website such as creating a blog and creating back links to your site, etc.
These things should be done but still leave you with only one shop window (your website) on the Internet.
As in networking you need to be seen in more than one place on the Internet to get that visibility.
In my opinion there are two other ways to gain visibility.
One is through published articles that point back to your website.
This is where you write informative articles, not sales pitches, that are published on other websites and as the author you have a link back to your website.
I have done this for a number of websites and have found the article ranked on the first few pages when I have been testing keyword searches.
For me the best place to gain that visibility is through video.
All the other methods are important to gain that visibility but none improve the website visitors experience as much as video.
A video added to a website will give your visitors an added dimension when they find your website.
A video does not need to be 'professionally' made.
So long as you can get your message across it can be a home made video.
In fact you don't need a website to get visibility on the Internet just a video.
A video can be produced cheaply and should be up loaded to as many video directories as possible, especially YouTube, Metacafe, Dailymotion, Yahoo, MySpace.
If you join TubeMogul.
com you can up load your video through them to all of these sites in one go, and it's free.
Once up loaded you can then embed the code of your video into your own website.
Now you have many 'shop windows' where your business can be found.
Your video can now turn up in Google, Yahoo, etc, searches, the same as your website.
Search engines do not rate the content of video, they are just a black box to the search engine robots.
However the title, description and keywords that are uploaded with the video are treated in the same way as a website is when visited by search engine robots.
